About Michigan

Michigan

Michigan is in the upper Midwest and the heart of the Great Lakes region. It has many attractions, famous landmarks, and scenic state and national parks and forests. In addition to the “great ones”, it has about 12,000 inland lakes, 38 deep-water ports, more miles of coastline than any state but Alaska, and more lighthouses than any other U.S. state. Its agriculture features tourist-friendly fare such as cherries, blueberries, peaches, apples, and wine. And its cities include a major metropolis, some university towns, and countless rustic villages. The state is geographically unique, being comprised of two major peninsulas, and it can be further divided into five distinct areas. They are the Upper Peninsula, (known to Michiganders as "The U.P."), Northern Michigan (Big Rapids and Northwards), Western Michigan (along the sandy coast of Lake Michigan), Central Michigan or "Mid-Michigan" and the Southeast or "Downstate".

The Lower Peninsula has the majority of the population (primarily in the south), while the Upper Peninsula, separated by Lake Michigan and a bit of Lake Huron, is mostly rural. Until 1957, the only way to drive from one to the other was to go all the way around Lake Michigan, or take your car onto a ferry. Michigan's economy was previously dominated by the auto industry, but has diversified somewhat as that and other traditional manufacturing industries have moved their facilities elsewhere, and it's beginning to attract more information technology, life sciences, and high-tech manufacturing jobs. Tourism is a growing segment of the economy, focusing in winter on activities in the snow, and in summer on the State's extensive beaches, lakes, and rivers. Hunting, fishing, and sailing are also popular outdoor activities

The Pine Crest Resort, once a family compound, sits on a 150 year old white pine plantation and offers outstanding northern lifestyle accommodations for sportsmen to families to honeymooners. The remote rentals on the Michigamme River and Juncob Lake, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan have become a second home to returning guests to enjoy during all four seasons of sport and fun. Each cabin has it’s own character and story. 6 cabins and 1 camper are used as the living quarters/rentals. Each cabin, with one exception, has a bedroom(s), kitchens/eating/ and bathrooms, heat source, electricity and water. There is one cabin, built by an architect with an artistic background, that has a great river view, ample desk space and it’s own garage. There are beds, but currently there is no bathroom or kitchen. Guests renting the adjacent cabin use this for extra guest space. The details and features of the cabins are never-ending. Additional pictures and information are available upon request, however an in-person showing is highly recommended. Additional outbuildings and cabins are used for storage, gardening, and enjoyment. The truly unique Sauna Cabin has a full bathroom, changing area, separate bath and even a living room for relaxing. A second entrance at the side of the cabin a third entrance at the walk -in basement level is used for storing rafts, oars, fishing poles, swimming vests and more for guests to use (all included in sale.) The wood shop is just that, and comes with a cabin-load of tools, cords and hardware galore. Other outbuildings include the large and popular screened-in porch (with electricity, picnic tables and chairs) a garage, 1 extra large storage building, a metal garden storage shed, 3 smaller storage sheds, an outhouse, a gardening shed, and a boat house. Currently there are 5 piers. The owner had a bridge built to access the property over the Michigamme River. The five 20” steel beams don’t even begin to explain the toughness of this bridge. During the warmer months of Spring, Summer and Fall, the list of recreational activities is almost endless. Lots of public lands surround Pine Crest Resort for hunting, ATV/ORVing, hiking, biking, etc! The hunting is excellent on this Certified Tree Farm with 100 private acres and has 11 scenic beaver ponds to see along the property’s maintained trails. All that, plus walk-in access to adjacent to large tracts of public land makes this property basically glorious. The location is a hot spot for hunting whitetail deer, bear, grouse, partridge among other game. The fishing is awesome on both the Michigamme River and Juncob Lake. Some of the many species of fish include Walleye, Northern Pike, Large and Small Mouth Bass, Pan Fish, etc. The fisherman love to stay at the hidden riverside Avion Travel Trailer rental. The 40 ft. camper is in great condition and sits under metal roof covering (built strong and tough) and with all utility hook-ups. A front porch, campsite and two private piers make this fisherman favorite. This resorts location for bird watching, moose-sightings and photography. Great spot for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, boating, and fishing on Juncob Lake and the Michigamme River. Canoes, aluminum boats, and paddle boats are available for guests and are included in the sale, among many other items. In the winter, the fun stays. Juncob Lake is great for ice fishing. Hop into snowshoes and tramp through the many acres of your own forest. Go cross country skiing or snowmobile on the trails located right on property. Trail 8 across rd for access to UP Trail Network. Without marketing efforts, guests still find their way here. Little focus done on developing the business but have put their time and money towards physical improvement. If you want the North-woods lifestyle with a great business opportunity, here it is.

WATERFRONT VACATION HOMES FOR SALE ON POINT ABBAYE!! - The Point Abbaye Peninsula is a 12.3-mile-long peninsula that juts out into Lake Superior. This body of land is located in central Baraga County, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This boreal ecosystem is bounded by the Keweenaw Bay on the west and the Huron Bay on the east. Considered a very special place by the Ojibwa who fished, hunted, and camped here for generations, it remained mostly untouched until the late 1800s. Today the thickly wooded second-growth forests are managed for production of pulpwood, and the shoreline is dotted with fine private homes and cottages, and vacant land parcels. The northern end of the Peninsula has Copper Country State Forest lands and the County of Baraga has a beautiful park located at the rugged, rocky tip. You might be able to see The Huron Island Light flashing from the rocky freshwater archipelago located about seven miles beyond the end of the peninsula. These islands are named the Huron Islands in honor of the Hurons who once lived in the area - and are a national wildlife area. Each side of the Peninsula has its own special features -- There are stunning sunset views on the west side, clear-day views of the Keweenaw Peninsula to the north, and those views of the Huron Islands and Huron Mountains from the east side. Lake Superior fishing for salmon, whitefish and lake trout abounds on either side! Another local pass time here is nature photography, and you'll have opportunities for that here year round! Whitetail deer, Black bear, Coyote, and Bald eagle sightings are common. -- THE BEAR PAW and EAGLE VIEW are distinctive prow-fronted homes that have vaulted ceilings and large sliding glass doors. MICHIGAN LAKE SUPERIOR WATERFRONT PARCEL FOR SALE - This parcel is located on the western "sunset view" side of Point Abbaye Peninsula, in north-central Baraga County in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The Point Abbaye Peninsula is a 12.3-mile-long peninsula that juts out into Lake Superior. This boreal ecosystem is bounded by the Keweenaw Bay on the west and the Huron Bay on the east. Considered a very special place by the Ojibwa who fished, hunted, and camped here for generations, it remained mostly untouched until the late 1800s. The Hebard and Thurberg Lumber Company leased the peninsula in 1877 and began harvesting its old growth forests, and carrying the logs to the nearby sawmills at Pequaming. It takes about a half-hour drive over the twisty road to get there, but the view from the rugged sandstone shelf there is worth the drive! There are hiking trails, two outhouses, and a small campground for overnight camping. You might be able to see The Huron Island Light flashing from the rocky freshwater archipelago located about seven miles beyond the end of the peninsula. These islands are named the Huron Islands in honor of the Hurons who once lived in the area - and are a national wildlife area. The ancient Lake Superior sea beds have created some sheer bluffs with high overlooks on both sides of the peninsula... And each side has its own special features. There are stunning sunset views on the west side, clear-day views of the Keweenaw Peninsula to the north, and those views of the Huron Islands and Huron Mountains from the east side. Lake Superior fishing for salmon, whitefish and lake trout abounds on either side! Another local pass time here is nature photography, and you'll have opportunities for that here year round! Whitetail deer, Black bear, Coyote, and Bald eagle sightings are common. There is "walk-in" access for hunting and trapping near by, into thousands of acres of Corporate CFA Lands and Copper County State Forest Lands. The peninsula creates two bays - the Keweenaw Bay, a larger bay on its western side and the Huron Bay, a narrower bay on its eastern side. The peninsula tempers the winds, creating these calmer, protected water bodies. Anglers do well trolling for Walleye, Perch, Steelhead, and Smallmouth bass on either side of Point Abbaye. The outer bays give good catches of Lake trout and Coaster browns, and Spring and Fall catches of Salmon are available. Pike are in the Huron Bay's southern end, and Spring-Fall Salmon are caught. The parcel has 335 Feet of Frontage, and there is electricity available at the road side. It can be purchased separately, or it can be purchased with two Waterfront Cabin/Home properties, and another vacant waterfront parcel located to the west of it. Both Cabins Have Excellent Vacation Rental History! Looking for an Up North Waterfront Parcel? Contact Us Today!
